Millersville is named for the first Postmaster, George Miller. It was the first Post Office to be established, on July 24, 1841, along the Annapolis & Elkridge Railroad. His home is still a focal point of Millersville, known as Childs Residence and has continuously served as the Post Office and community store for 130 years. It is now home to the Anne Arundel County Trails Program. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
