Waterfront Homes
Charlie Buckley
Charlie Buckley (1952 – 2022) was an Associate Broker who specialized in waterfront and water-oriented properties in greater Annapolis (Anne Arundel County) and Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Charlie was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, and graduated from St. Joseph’s University. He earned a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Delaware. Charlie was a pioneer in the real estate industry, creating the Mr. Waterfront brand before agents thought of specializing in a particular segment of the market. He boosted his brand with a signature power boat that he anchored in different creeks, knowing that waterfront homeowners are always looking at the view. In the first six months of getting his license, three different people said, “you’re just like Mr. Waterfront!” At that moment, he decided to trademark the name. His ongoing marketing breakthroughs (live video, first alert notification, use of drone photography) allowed him to sell more waterfront homes every year until his illness in 2022.
Charlie never met a boat he didn’t like (the same was also true of tools)! One of his great joys in his last couple of years was ocean racing. He crewed in the Annapolis to Newport, RI race two times, serving as the chef and medic. Charlie’s early career included starting a business to employ adults with disabilities and working as a business consultant for ComputerLand. When he put his mind to something, Charlie really made things happen; he even taught a legally blind man to sail. In 2020, he got certified to scuba dive, a bucket list hobby he shared with his daughter Meagan. Charlie was a nationally certified Emergency Medical Technician and loved volunteering on the ambulance with the West Annapolis Volunteer Fire Department.
With more than $1.5 Billion in sales over 28 years, Charlie worked with more Annapolis area waterfront sellers and buyers than any other licensed REALTOR®. He readily shared his knowledge and expertise with team members, particularly his wife Reid and daughter Meagan, and his legacy of putting the client first continues at Mr. Waterfront.
